Famous fashion designer Gloria Vanderbilt dies at 95

Renowned American fashion designer Gloria Vanderbilt died on Monday morning, his son who is a senior anchor and author, Anderson Cooper confirmed the news on CNN in a broadcast. She was 95.

Vanderbilt died at her home in Manhattan with friends and family at her side. The iconic fashion designer was battling stomach cancer.

‘She was ready. She was ready to go,’ her son Cooper said with teary eyes in a heartfelt obituary package aired on CNN.

“To millions of women (and men) who wore her jeans, blouses, scarves, shoes, jewelry and perfumes, who saw her alabaster face, jet-black hair and slim figure in magazines, and who watched her move across a television screen and proclaim that her svelte jeans “really hug your derrière,”

“What an extraordinary life.” Cooper said while paying a tribute to his mother, “What an extraordinary mom and what an incredible woman.”

Cooper went on with a statement. “She was a painter, a writer, and designer but also a remarkable mother, wife, and friend. She was 95 years old, but ask anyone close to her, and they’d tell you, she was the youngest person they knew, the coolest, and most modern.”

The fashion diva lived a life of tragedy, scandal and glamour. She was married four times and had four children.

Vanderbilt was also known as an actress, artist and a passionate writer. She wrote several books including a 2004 autobiography where she gave an insight about her love life.

In 2009, she also authored a novel “Obsession: An Erotic Tale”.

Likewise her fashion and acting, Vanderbilt was even more concrete about her writings and had always paid much heed towards it. In an interview to New York Times, she once said explicitness of her book had never embarrassed her but what could really embarrass her was ‘bad writing’.
