Mariah Carey’s Twitter account hacked on New Year Eve

While the world prepared to celebrate New Year 2020, the Twitter account of celebrity singer Mariah Carey was hacked and was used to post a series of racist slurs.

Carey’s official account with more than 21 million followers was reportedly taken over for a prolonged amount of time.

During the hack, hackers posted dozens of offensive, racist and lewd tweets, including the N-word and sexual comments about rapper Eminem as reference Carey’s to a long-time feud with the rapper.

The posting of offensive tweets continued nearly for half an hour and later, the hackers seemingly lost control of the account and the posts were taken down.

Those posting from the account claimed to be from “Chuckling Squad”, a hacking group that also took control of Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey‘s earlier in 2019 as well as other high-profile users of the site.
