While speaking at the 10th Annual Women of the World Summit, Priyanka Jonas Chopra reflected back on her experience of sexual harassment when host Tina Brown asked if she had faced one.
Priyanka raised her hand and said, “Everybody in this room has probably faced one because it had become a norm with women. We always had a voice. Just nobody heard us. Now if I have a story I don’t feel I am alone anymore – and I am not ashamed of it.”
Priyanka also added that the incident took place very long ago when she was very young and it takes a lot of courage to come out – she applauded the women who have been vocal in the #MeToo movement. Former Miss World said, it’s also because of the immense support women are getting today that victims have mustered the courage to come out and talk on such matters.
“Now, because of the support we are giving each other, people don’t have the power to shut us down. And that’s an incredibly powerful thing to see,” she said.
In her interview, the *Barfi* actress also shed light on her grand wedding with American pop star Nick Jonas.
