Ushna Shah irks Khalil-ur-Rehman on the debacle referring Aurat March 2020

The discussions on the recent spat between social activist Marvi Sarmad and playwright Khalil-ur- Rehman continues on social media after the two involved in a quarrel over the slogan “Mera Jism Meri Marzi” in Aurat March 2020. On Wednesday, the Pakistani television star Ushna Shah denounced Khalil-ur-Rehman’s recent controversial statements, asking him to be regretful for his inappropriate words.

During an interview with a private TV channel, Shah said to the controversial writer that he “should apologise for his words” adding that it “is the time to stand against wrongdoings” in our society.

Taking a jibe at Qamar while referring to a popular dialogue from his recently-hit drama series, Shah said, “after my comments, Qamar sahab will say that I will never make an offer to this ‘dou takkay ki aurat’ for a drama”.

The drama-writer “should put aside” his ego, “acknowledge his mistake, and apologise”, the actress said.

“He should realise that we do not enjoy being angry or supporting him, adding that, “This is an injustice … your ideology is wrong. Think about it, open up your mind”.

Earlier, on late Tuesday night,  Khalil-ur-Rehman — who was both criticized and lauded for his hit TV series earlier this year — appeared on a talk show alongside activist Marvi Sirmed to share his words on widely condemned on national level Aurat March 2020.

During the show, the two got into an argument about one of the slogans — “mera jism, meri marzi,” or my body, my choice — with Qamar saying it was “vile and filthy” and that he felt “hurt” that the LHC threw out a petition seeking to ban it.

As he was speaking about how the slogan “Mera Jism Meri Marzi” will support the vulgarity, Sirmed interrupted in between the talks. Consequently, he lost his cool and thrown some highly inappropriate remarks at Sirmed, adding to a clash between supporters and opponents of the Aurat March 2020.
