American retail chain Walmart that recently drew ire of social media over an insensitive and thoughtless tweet about late actor Paul Walker has apologized for the mishap.
The tweet, made in response to a Twitter user’s GIF of driving fast to get hold of the newly launched Pillsbury cinnamon rolls, said mentioned Walker who passed away in a tragic car accident.
“*Me racin to the nearest Wally World*,” said the user’s tweet.
“Hey, Paul Walker, click it or ticket,” was Walmart’s response that drew a lot of criticism from fans of Fast and the Furious actor.
The retail giant immediately retracted its tweet and apologized through a spokesperson.
“We apologize to Paul Walker’s family, friends and fans. The tweet was posted in poor judgment and has been removed,” the Walmart rep said while talking to PEOPLE Magazine.
