J.K Rowling and Harry Potter Gets Entry Pass in North Korea

23 years after the first Harry Potter book was published, J.K Rowling has been allowed entry in North Korea, a country whose censor is not easy to be passed.

Approving the book series, Joseon Writers’ Alliance, North Korea’s censor group that scrutinizes the literature citizens can read in Kim Jong-un’s country, Harry Potter series has been given a pass.

Literature Newspaper, a publication on the payroll of the alliance, even praised the wizard centric books.

“Harry Potter shows the idea that children should pioneer their way with their own strength and ability,” said the publication.

Given the strict rules of Kim Jong-un’s regime, it is no small feat for Rowling and her books to make a pass in a country where foreign content is highly restricted.
