The First Ever Pakistan International Film Festival Winds Up With Major Awards

PIFF, the Pakistan International Film Festival, after commencement of four days events came to close with a star studded gala awards night. The festival included film screenings, panel discussions and workshops which were held at various venues in Karachi. Big names of Pakistan entertainment industry graced the event. The international delegation of film makers, writers and actors were also present to represent respective countries.

PIFF wound up with a major awards night and the winners in various categories are as follows:

Best film, Punjab Nahi Jaungi.

Best actor male, Fahad Mustafa for Actor in law

Best actor female, Mehwish Hayat for Actor in Law

“I was honoured to be awarded the Pakistan Icon Plaque in recognition of my film work at Filmfare ME re-launch”, says Mehwish Hayat

Best director Nadeem Baig for Punjab Nahi Jaungi

Actor Hania Aamir won the Best Debut (Female)

Ali Rehman Khan won Best Debut (Male) for Janaan

Khalilur Rehman was named the Best Writer for Punjab Nahi Jaungi.

Sahir Ali Bagga won the Best Music award for Arth : The Destination

Mitesh Soni won the Best Editor award for Janaan

Rana Kamran won the Best Cinematography for Na Maloom Afraad 2.

Hamid Reza Hosseinian from Iran won the Best Short Film trophy for Aghaie Nazim

Anjuli S from India won in the Best Documentary Short category for Veil Done

Mehreen Jabbar won the Best Feature Film for Lala Begum.

Mahera Omar from Pakistan won the Best Documentary Feature award for Parveen Rehman:The Rebel Optimist

Ali Zafar was honored with the Artist for Peace award.

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Maryam Aurangzeb, was chief guest at the awards night gala and closing ceremony of PIFF.
