James Gunn shares the first look at David Corenswet as Superman

James Gunn shared the first look at David Corenswet as Superman on Monday.

DC Studios co-CEO and Superman director James Gunn in a post on Threads, told fans to “get ready” for the July 11, 2025 premiere date as he fully revealed Corenswet as Superman.

It shows a stone-faced Superman in a dirty suit, pulling his boots on.

In a follow-up post, the Superman director shared that the photo was taken on set by Jess Miglio and was entirely in-camera.

The new Superman suit doesn’t seem to impress the fans.

Though this is a fresh new Superman from a fresh new DC Universe. But the suit itself seems to be particularly not a new one as the S symbol and its arms appeared dirtied or faded. 

Soon after the ‘Superman suit was officially revealed,  X’s timeline was flooded with messages. 

In 2022,  Gunn announced that his rebooted DC universe would kick off with a Superman movie titled Superman: Legacy.

However, later the title of the movie was shortened to simply Superman.

David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan have been tapped to play Clark Kent and Lois Lane in James Gunn’s upcoming movie.

While, David Corenswet, 30, has never taken on a leading role in a major studio production before.
