Instagram starts hiding likes across the world

Following their commitment of reducing pressure on the youth and changing how the young users felt about their social media platforms, Instagram has now extended its hiding likes tests to the US as well.

On November 14th Instagram’s official Twitter handle shared that people who would be in the test would no longer be able to see the number of likes and views on videos and photos on their feed unless they were their own.

According to Instagram, since the feedback from early testing in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Ireland, Italy, Japan and New Zealand has been positive, this would be a fundamental change to Instagram, and so the test would continue to be expanded in different parts of the world to learn more from the global community.

However, since many influencers and celebrities and majority of Instagram users, depended on the number of likes to earn revenue, the portal shared that it was working on ways for creators to communicate value to their partners.
