Tahira Habib, daughter of Pakistan’s revolutionary poet Habib Jalib drives taxi for livelihood

According to the reports daughter of Pakistan’s revolutionary poet Habib Jalib is driving taxi for the livelihood of the family after her mother’s stipend was put at halt in 2014 by the Punjab government.

As being reported, Tahira Habib is working as a captain of private taxi service in Lahore. The taxi which she runs for the taxi service was purchased after getting the loan from a local private bank.

The monthly stipend of her mother of Rs 25000, was halted in 2014 after her death, in the tenure of Shahbaz Sharif. The stipend was paid by the government of Punjab from the ‘Poet’s Quota’.

While talking to a local TV channel, Tahira said, “The stipend stopped days before my mother’s death in 2014.” She further added that she does not feel any shame in running the taxi as she is the daughter of Habib Jalib, who never compromised on principles till his death.

She vows to follow the principles of her father and never compromise over these principles.

Tahira Habib has urged the government to resume the stipend and introduce poor-friendly system, which could facilitate the poor to earn their livelihood without difficulty. Hope her voice is heard loud and clear in Naya Pakistan and the government put some efforts to help the families of late artists, writers and poets in the time of hardship.
