World Mental Health Day urges increased investment in mental health

World Mental Health Day is observed throughout the world on October 10, 2020, and the goal this year as announced by the World Health Organization is increased investment in mental health. Kazim Trust, a leading non-profit organization established in 2008 is actively working in this field, to spread awareness and create treatment programs for Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD), Learning Difficulties (LD), and Autism (ASD) in children and adults.

In line with the goal of this year’s World Mental Health Day, Kazim Trust has announced that it will offer interest-free refundable educational loans to undergraduate and post-graduate students with ADHD and learning difficulties so that they are able to take up higher education at the best universities. The repayment of the loans is structured so that the funds on repayment can be then used to give loans to other student applicants in the future. Kazim Trust does not take donations or engage in fundraising.

Speaking about this new scheme, Kazim Anwar, the Founder Trustee of Kazim Trust said, “Young people with ADHD and learning difficulties have a challenging life as it is. We felt that at least the availability of finances should not be a deterrent for them to seek higher education. We decided that the Trust will provide loans and not grants, as young people must also develop a deep sense of responsibility, and understand that by repaying the loan, they will effectively be contributing to the education of many other future students.”

The students’ community is one of the hardest hit by the pandemic, with educational institutions first closed for a long time and then opening to conduct classes online, which could only be available to those having computers and an internet connection. In these circumstances, students with ADHD and learning difficulties tend to get even more marginalized and any initiative to support them can be life-changing for them. With the launch of this new scheme, the Trust continues to build on its work in the field of mental health. Kazim Trust provides various Therapies as well to help students with ADHD and Learning Difficulties to accomplish their academic goals.
