Pakistani rock star Farhad Humayun’s new disco track “Kambakht” is out. It remained unnoticed till yet, that its lyrics were written by Hamza Ali Abbasi. As being reported that Rockstar Farhad has rescued the title track of Hamza’s now-scrapped directorial debut and turned it into a fun disco dance number.
The rock star dances out in full disco mode in a 70’s inspired Elvis-style track video. He is seen partying along co-vocalist Faiza Mujahid. It a first of its kind never seen in Pakistan before, disco, party and crowd enjoying all in one.
According to the press release, Hamza Ali Abbasi wrote this song as the title song for the film he was directing named “Kambakht”, but later decided against releasing. Farhad Humayun has rescued the song from the scrapped project and has given it a new life with a range of instruments, which are all played by Farhad himself.
While talking to media about this disco track Farhad said, “This is a track that always made me laugh while I was making it”. He further added “I’ve always felt that to be creative I needed to play with sounds and visual material that made me uncomfortable. I never want to be confined to a sound or identity that works for me or helps me sell myself, so I decided to drop the usual intensity and darkness in my music and approach. I just wanted to have fun with this one and I sure did.”
