2 Pakistanis were on board the missing submarine that went to see the wreck of the Titanic, which sank some 111 years ago, in the Atlantic Ocean.

• Shahzada had decided to take his son Sulaiman on the ‘Titan’ – the name of the Titanic submersible – for the five-day trip

Shahzada Dawood, 48, a UK-based board member of the Prince’s Trust charity, and his son Sulaiman Dawood, 19, were on board the underwater craft taking paying tourists to view the famous wreck 12,500ft underwater.

The tiny craft lost signal in the dark depths of the Atlantic Ocean, 370 miles off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada.

Businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son, Suleman, were also on board, their family said in a statement. The statement said the father and son had planned the journey to see the remnants of the Titanic shipwreck.

According to the British media, the search for the missing submarine is underway.

The missing submarine had a capacity of 5 people and was carrying only 5 people, including 2 Pakistanis including a British billionaire, while the other two crew members included the submarine pilot and a technician.

The 21-foot craft, operated by OceanGate Expeditions, began its descent on Sunday but lost contact with the surface less than two hours later.

The submarine had departed from the Canadian island of Newfoundland.

According to the U.S. Coast Guard, the submarine lost contact an hour and 45 minutes after the start of its voyage on Sunday.

A submarine and two aircraft are taking part in the search operation.

Businessman Shahzada Dawood is the vice chairman of one of Pakistan’s largest conglomerates, Engro Corporation, which has investments in fertilizers, vehicle manufacturing, energy, and digital technologies.

“We are very grateful for the concern being shown by our colleagues and friends and would like to request everyone to pray for their safety,’ the Dawood family said in a statement.

As reported, the fare for the 8-day trip of the submarine is 250,000 dollars, in which the wreckage of the Titanic ship can be seen by sitting down at 3800 meters at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.

There is a four-day emergency oxygen supply available in the submarine and it can go to a depth of 13100 feet.
