“That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind,” Neil Amstrong had said on July 20, 1969, as he walked on the moon – the first man to ever do so.
To mark the upcoming anniversary of this biggest event in the history of mankind, a life-sized statue of Neil Armstrong’s spacesuit has been unveiled at the Washington Nationals Baseball Stadium in Washington.
The same spacesuit will also be on display on July 16, at the National Air and Space Museum.
Made from rigid resin and created using Smithsonian 3-D scan of the spacesuit, the spacesuit is first of the 15 statues that will be placed in various national parks across the country.
The initiative is taken to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 Mission that Neil along with fellow astronaut Micheal Collins was a part of.
According to the organizers of this activity, each statue will have interactive components. This will allow spectators to scan the suit with their phone cameras and access further information and videos related to the moon landing event.
