Asifa Bhutto Zardari steps into active politics, reminding Pakistanis of her late mother Benazir Bhutto

Asifa Bhutto Zardari has stepped into active politics with the PDM jalsa in Multan on Monday.

Her appearance at the political public gathering is reminding Pakistanis of her late mother Benazir Bhutto.

Born on February 3, 1993, Asifa is the youngest daughter of former PM Benazir and former president Asif Ali Zardari.

Her presence at the PDM gathering and to step into national politics was made final after Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari tested positive for Covid-19 a week ago.

According to senior PPP leader, Naveed Chaudhry Asifa was already active in Sindh’s politics where she was assisting her aunt Faryal Talpur in political matters.

“Asifa has done commendable work in Sindh in the fight against polio. She also actively assists Faryal Talpur in other social work. Now, the party has decided to involve her in mainstream politics,” he said.

According to PPP sources, Asifa takes a keen interest in politics, often exchanging notes with her father and elder brother on political issues. And it’s her own decision to step into national politics.

The source said the decision to involve Asifa in the Multan gathering was taken by Asif Ali Zardari in consultation with Bilawal.

“Asifa is also more than happy to be part of Multan jalsa,” the source added.

Asifa Bhutto Zardari’s, 27, presence in Multan today reminds Pakistanis of late Mohatarma Benazir Bhutto.

She arrived at the Multan Airport earlier in the day to participate in PDM’s public gathering at Qila Qasim Bagh Stadium.

Earlier today the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Inam Ghani ordered the police to remove containers and barriers which were placed to block the roads leading towards Qila Qasim Bagh Stadium, the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) rally venue.
