Bilawal Bhutto abruptly left for Dubai on Friday after Asif Zardari’s interview aired on Thursday evening.
As reported, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari left for Dubai on a private flight, while the duration or reason of his visit has not been disclosed.
Hours before leaving, former foreign minister Bilawal changed his profile picture on X-Platform, formerly Twitter, to a photo with his mother, Benazir Bhutto.
Bilawal’s departure comes a day after his father and Co-chairman Asif Zardari appeared in an interview with Hamid Mir on his show Capital Talk.
In the interview, Asif Zardari maintained that he was still training his son, Bilawal.
The former president said, “Bilawal is not completely trained and now we are training him,” in the said interview.
Senior Zardari maintained that while Bilwal is more educated and spoke better than him, he is more experienced as a politician.
The co-chairman’s remarks seemingly came in response to Bilawal’s recent speeches where he called for old politicians to step aside and make way for new ones.
PPP Information Secretary Shazia Marri said that there was no connection between Asif Ali Zardari’s interview and Bilawal’s abrupt departure.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is the party chairman and he does not need to tell anyone about his travel plans, Marri told Aaj News.
She said that the former foreign minister was on a personal visit to Dubai.
Asif Zardari has also departed for Dubai, she added.
Meanwhile, in a statement on X, formerly Twitter, PPP Central Secretary Information Faisal Karim Kundi said the party chairman’s visit to Dubai, an emirate in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), was pre-planned.
“Chairman PPP @BBhuttoZardari left for Dubai yesterday afternoon according to his schedule after KP visit,” Kundi noted after media outlets reported that he had left the country “all of a sudden”.
“Rumours regarding differences between Chairman PPP & President @AAliZardari is baseless,” he added.
