BTS’s Comeback Album titled Map of the Soul, on February 21 - OyeYeah News
One of the world’s biggest boy bands, which boasts a huge and devoted fan base, BTS is to take an extended break from performing. The band has been performing since 2013.
The announcement was made by the BTS’s agency Big Hit Entertainment saying that the seven members would be undergoing a “period of rest and relaxation”.
Further saying that the extended break from the music scene will allow their members to “enjoy their normal lives as normal 20-something young men”.
The agency said it wanted the band’s members to use their “extended period of rest and relaxation” to “recharge and refresh as musicians and creators”.
It added: “If you run into BTS at an unexpected place, we ask for the fans’ consideration to allow the members to enjoy their private time.
“BTS will return refreshed and recharged to return all the love you have continue to show them. Thank you.”
It is being speculated that the extended break might be the reason as it is necessary because South Korean males still have to complete two years of compulsory military service between the ages of 18 and 28.
All of the seven BTS band members fit this age bracket.
It is not made clear yet how long the break will last, however, BTS are scheduled to perform in Saudi Arabia in October as part of their world tour “Love Yourself: Speak Yourself” and also in Seoul in October.
This is the first time BTS will have taken time off since their 2013 debut.
BTS who have hundreds of thousands of fans on social media came in responding to the extended vacation announcement, using the hashtags #RestWellBTS and #HappyVacationBTS.
According to the Hyundai Research Institute, BTS are worth more than $3.5bn annually to South Korea’s economy, and the band was the reason why one in every 13 foreign tourists visited the country in 2017.
