Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan is to remain in the Attock Jail!
The development comes on Wednesday as the special court established under the Official Secrets Act extended PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s judicial remand till September 13 in the cipher case.
Owing to security concerns, today’s hearing of the Cipher Case was held at the Attock District Jail presided over by Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain, and arranged by the Law Ministry.
Prosecutor Zulfiqar Naqvi represented the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) while PTI lawyer Salman Safdar appeared on behalf of Khan at today’s hearing
The counsel for the PTI chairman filed a plea for his post-arrest bail.
The court sought a reply from the parties by September 2.
The PTI chief was sent on judicial remand in the case of the missing cipher, a classified state document that Khan had waved during his political gathering ahead of his ouster from office last year, till August 30 (today) at the same time while he was serving his sentence in Toshakhana case at Attock jail.
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday suspended PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s sentence in the Toshakhana case.
A division bench of the IHC, comprising Chief Justice Aamer Farooq and Tariq Mehmood Jahangir announced the the decision on Tuesday that was reserved a day earlier.
In the decision, the court directed the authorities to release the PTI chief on bail.
The PTI chairman was directed by the court to submit a surety bond of Rs100,000 against the bail, as per the sources.
