CJP Qazi Faez Isa breaking traditions, shuns VIP protocol and state vehicle

The newly-sworn Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Justice Qazi Faez Isa has displayed an unprecedented break from established traditions.

On his first day in office on Monday, Supreme Court proceedings were broadcast live for the first time in Pakistan’s judicial history.

As reported, Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa has ordered to live-stream all the important cases of the Supreme Court on national television.

In a display of humility, Justice Isa abstained from using the customary state vehicle and protocol that typically accompany the office, breaking from the practices of his predecessors.

He arrived at the Supreme Court building today in his personal 1800cc car.

The newly appointed CJP Qazi Faez Isa also refused to take guard of honour.

Upon his arrival, CJP Isa said to the SC staff: “People come to the Supreme Court to solve their problems. Treat visitors like guests.”

He further said that the doors to justice should be kept open.

Furthermore, he opted for standard security measures.

As reported, outside his office chamber, CJP Isa chose to be identified simply as ‘Justice Qazi Faez Isa,’ without incorporating the title of Chief Justice, marking a unique departure from established tradition.

 

A day earlier, at his oath-taking ceremony, Justice Isa was flanked by his wife Sarina Isa as the notification for his appointment was read out.
