Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has met with the boxer Muhammad Waseem and congratulated him on defeating Philippines’ Conrado Tanamor in the first round of their fight in Dubai.
The meeting was held the COAS office, reports DG ISPR on social media saying: ‘COAS met boxer Muhammad Waseem at his office. Congratulated him for the recent achievement bringing honour for the country. “Talent like you is our pride, we are here to support youngsters like you having potential and positive energy”, COAS.’
The star boxer who is also known as Falcon returned home after winning in spectacular style on Friday by knocking out his Filipino opponent within 82 seconds of the opening round.
Though his unnoticed return garnered the attention of the former Pakistan cricket captain Wassem Akram who took to social media apologizing to his namesake boxer.
However, his win was acknowledged later by many of the prominent celebrities, who took to social media congratulating Waeem over his remarkable victory.
