A Daily Jang reporter has returned home a day after his disappearance in Karachi!
As reported, Senior reporter Syed Muhammad Askari went missing after being picked up by police and personnel in plain clothes late Saturday night.
Askari had gone missing late on Saturday night after attending a wedding in the Mehmoodabad area. His car was intercepted by a police van and another white vehicle near Baloch Colony at around 12:15 am.
Daily Jang reporter, Saqib Sagheer, confirmed that Askari had “returned”.
He said Askari had phoned him at 3 am and said that he had reached home safely.
He added that Askari was dropped off near Sohrab Goth and his mobile phone and wallet were not given back to him.
Arab News Journalist Naimat Khan also quoted Askari’s family as saying that the reporter had safely reached home.
A complaint was filed in this regard at the Baloch Colony Police Station by the journalist’s wife, who accused the police and personnel in plainclothes of “abducting” Askari for unknown reasons.
In the filed complainant, Shazia Askari stated that personnel in police uniforms and plainclothes abducted her husband from a spot near the Qayyumabad Interchange when he and his friend were returning from an event.
The personnel had their faces covered and were in a police mobile and a white vehicle, the complaint stated, adding that they whisked away her husband without giving a reason at around 1:15 am on Sunday.
