Dr Afia Siddiqui does not want to contact her family, reveals FO!
Foreign Office (FO) in a statement issued earlier this week revealed that Dr Afia Siddiqui did not want to contact her family.
The FO further told that 300 minutes per month were allotted to Ms Siddqui to contact her family, however, she did not want to do it herself.
“The office has informed her family regarding her choice”, the statement said, adding, “If she did not want to establish contact, she could not be forced to do so.”
Aafia Siddiqui is serving an 86-year sentence at the Federal Medical Center, Carswell in Fort Worth, Texas, United States for attempted murder and other felonies.
Last month, the Islamabad High Court directed the Foreign Affairs ministry to raise Dr Aafia’s matter with the American envoy while sharing its dissatisfaction towards the efforts for her release and sought a signed report from the ministry and its secretary.
In the case pertaining to the return of Dr Aafia Siddiqui, IHC directed the Foreign Affairs ministry to ensure assistance to Dr Fauzia Siddiqui, the younger sister of the imprisoned scientist, on the legal front.
