A Frontier Constabulary (FC) official was martyred while eight others, including two civilians, were injured in a blast near Prime Hospital Complex on Peshawar’s Warsak Road, on Monday.
A vehicle of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa FC’s Mohmand Rifles regiment was targeted in the attack at around 10:30 a.m., Warsak Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Arshad Khan confirmed.
SP Arshad Khan said that the vehicle was headed towards Peshawar from Machni when the blast occurred.
He also confirmed that it was an improvised explosive device (IED) blast.
He added that one FC official was martyred as a result while six FC officials and two civilians were also injured.
Stating that there was “no prior threat”, SP said the blast was carried out using an improvised explosive device (IED).
The SP said that further investigation was underway and that a report by the Bomb Disposal Unit would further clarify the nature of the blast.
The injured as a result of the blast were shifted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH).
Meanwhile, some of the injured by the blast were brought to the Lady Reading Hospital, the hospital’s administration confirmed.
The Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) teams reached the site and gathered forensic evidence from the attack.
