Heavy rains in Dubai have caused havoc, leaving several streets flooded including the airport.
The emirate has received incessant rains in the last two days, which are likely to continue till Thursday.
The Dubai Media Office called the rain “unusually heavy” and said that the “rainfall reached 150 mm/hour for two-and-a-half hours”, citing the preliminary reports.
Heavy rains have resulted in waterlogging and prompted the authorities concerned to divert traffic from some roads.
Dubai Airport, the world’s busiest international airport is experiencing delays, diversions and cancellations today after heavy rain flooded runways, aprons and terminals.
In an issued statement Dubai Airport asserted that authorities were doing their best to restore its full operational capacity with some flights being delayed, canceled or diverted to DWC.
Also, calling on travelers to directly contact airliners to keep themselves informed of any development with regard to their flights.
Meanwhile, Emirates Airlines also issued a statement over the prevalent weather conditions causing disruptions to several flights departing from or arriving at Dubai Airports today.
