Iranian President Raisi arrived in Karachi on Tuesday evening on the third and final day of Pakistan’s visit.
Upon his arrival at the Karachi Airport, Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori, Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah, and others welcomed the Iranian President.
Raisi paid a visit to Quaid Azam’s mausoleum, offered fateha and paid his respects to the founder of Pakistan.
Amid security concerns, mobile and internet services have been suspended in several parts of Karachi.
In a statement, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said the cellular services will remain suspended on specific routes in Karachi from 3 pm (April 23) till 8 am (April 24) on the directions of the Ministry of Interior.
“This decision is being taken to ensure the security of the dignitary’s visit to Karachi,” the authority added.
Shahrah-e-Faisal and Shahrah-e-Quaideen have also been closed for the traffic as part of security measures taken ahead of the arrival of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.
The Iranian president will meet the provincial cabinet during his stay in Karachi.
In recognition of his services for further bolstering ties between the two brethren nations, the University of Karachi will confer an honorary PhD degree on the Iranian president.
The Iranian president arrived in Islamabad on Monday on a three-day official visit from April 22 to 24.
