The legendary Hollywood actor Robert Redford announces his retirement from acting at the age of 81!

The legendary Hollywood actor Robert Redford has decided to say goodbye to his 60 years long acting career announcing his retirement in a recent interview, saying his upcoming film “the Old Man & the Gun” is going to be his last film.

The 81 years old actor said, “Never say never, but I pretty well concluded that this would be it for me in terms of acting,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “(I’ll) move toward retirement after this ’cause I’ve been doing it since I was 21”.

This retirement news was also confirmed by his publicist. In 2016, Redford said that “The Old Man & the Gun” and the 2017 romance “Our Souls at Night,” in which he reunited with Jane Fonda, is going be his final pair of acting jobs.

The prolific actor slid into the director’s chair with 1980s family drama “Ordinary People” and won an Academy Award for his directorial debut for it and in 2002 he received a Lifetime Achievement Oscar.

Robert Redford got his big break through when he was in his 20s, director Mike Nichols cast him as the lead in Neil Simon’s Broadway comedy “Barefoot in the Park.” The 1963 play was a major hit and it opened the door to more films, including the film adaptation of “Barefoot” opposite Fonda, which made him a popular leading man.

His retirement news has left his fans and followers heartbroken, #RobertRedfort is trending all over the social media.
