Good news for Karachiites! The citizens will no longer face power outages in the city as K-Electric has finally announced to end loadshedding in the metropolis in the next 48 hours.
The authorities on Friday has said that it would end loadshedding in Karachi in the next 48 hours after the federal government assured that it would provide an additional supply of gas and furnace oil to the power distribution company.
The development came after a meeting of Governor Sindh Imran Ismail and CEO KE Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi today at the Governor House where Ismail was given assurance that city won’t face power outages any longer.
“Loadshedding will start reducing after 24 hours and will end in next 48 hrs,” Govorner Ismail said after the meeting and added that the federal government will provide additional furnace oil to the KE.
The news could bring a sigh of relief for the people of Karachi who were facing massive troubles due to frequent loadshedding in the extreme hot weather for the past few days.
The loadshedding in the city has worsened the water shortage problem in the city as many people cannot operate their pumping machines in the absence of electricity.
The Sindh governor said that additional gas up to 100 mmcfd from the Sui Southern Gas Company will also be provided to the KE to ease the pressure of furnace oil shortage.
He added that due to “non-upgradation of [the] system”, the company is unable to utilise 500MW of electricity in addition to 650 MW being provided from the national grid.
Meanwhile, the CEO KE has been asked to up-grade their system, Governor Sindh said.
