The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) has rebranded its name has chosen to call is as Lums University as part of a recent overhaul and notified staff and students via email this morning. Now the academy will now be called Lums University.
The new name “Lums” will no longer be used as an acronym for the varsity ahead.
Vice-Chancellor of the newly called Lums, Dr Arshad Ahmad in an email to the students and faculty, explained that the step has been taken as the educationa organisation has grown from a management school to a “comprehensive university offering over 30 undergraduate and graduate degree programmes through its schools of business, humanities, and social sciences, science and engineering, law and education”.
The management of the university feels that the “disciplinary growth and its comprehensive status is better to understand by Lums University”.
The explanation of the university management, though, did not listen as #LUMSU soon became the top trend in the country with users of Twitter hilariously troll the new version.
