147 newly elected members of the Sindh Assembly took oath during the inaugural session on Saturday.
Outgoing speaker Agha Siraj Durrani administered the oath to at least 147 newly-elected Sindh Assembly members in the house of 168.
The first batch took their oath in Sindh, the second in Urdu and the third batch of members took their oath in English.
A total of 147 members were sworn in with 111 from the PPP and 36 from MQM.

The notification for Ameer Jamat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman was not issued after he announced he would be relinquishing his provincial assembly seat, PS-129, and a PPP leader Abdul Aziz Junejo, who was elected on PS-80, passed away.
As reported, MPAs-elect belonging to the Grand Democratic Alliance, Jamaat-i-Islami and independents backed by the PTI — who recently joined the Sunni Ittehad Council as per the PTI’s directions — did not show up to take their oath at the inaugural session of the Sindh Assembly.
Following the oath-taking ceremony, the Sindh Assembly session was adjourned till 11 am on Sunday (tomorrow).
Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani announced the schedule for the elections of the new speaker and deputy speaker.
According to a statement issued by the Sindh Assembly, the timing for submitting the nomination papers for the roles is from 2 pm to 3 pm today while their delivery is allowed till 5 pm.
The scrutiny of the papers will be conducted at 6 pm on Feb 24, today, following which the list of valid nominations will be affixed on the board at 7 pm.
