Nicole Kidman radically transforms for upcoming crime-thriller ‘Destroyer’

Australian actress Nicole Kidman has gone through a dramatic makeover for the upcoming crime- thriller film “Destroyer”. In this film she is playing a tired-looking and worn out police detective with a painful history.

The Oscar winner swapped her blonde locks for a short bob and adopted a rugged style to play Erin Bell, a detective whose past continues to haunt her years after infiltrating a criminal gang undercover in an operation with devastating consequences.

Changing the looks entirely for playing a role in a film is nothing new for the 51-year-old actress. She did something similar when she played Virginia Woolf in 2002 film “The Hours”, for which she also won an Oscar in 2003.

As being reported, critics have praised her performance in “Destroyer” and described her appearance as “almost unrecognizable”.

While speaking to media at the London Film Festival, Nicole Kidman shared her views about this character.

Nicole Kidman said, “I just felt her and I felt sadness and I felt pain for her. I thought there was a restlessness and a complexity to her anger which I thought I had never seen on screen, particularly in the form of a female. The way I look and behave in the film is the result of a lot of trauma. That’s the beauty of cinema, you use the image, you don’t always have to have the words”.

Destroyer is a 2018 crime thriller film directed by Karyn Kusama, from a screenplay written by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi. This film had its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival on August 31, 2018. It is scheduled to be theatrically released on 25th December, by Annapurna Pictures.
