Pakistan allows all airlines to operate, repatriate Pakistanis from June 20

The government of Pakistan has allowed all the airlines to operate and the flights will facilitate to repatriate Pakistanis from June 20.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by SAPMs Dr. Moeed Yusuf and Syed Zulfiqar Bukhari in a press briefing in Islamabad.

According to them, all flights will resume and that the passengers can now buy tickets directly from the airlines like they used to and won’t need to get in touch with the embassies.

“If you don’t observe the 14-day self-quarantine and we have to close our airspace, you will create difficulty for those working abroad,” said Zulfi Bukhari,

He also urged people to follow through with the 14-day quarantine and stay home.

“Only come out if you have symptoms and need to go to the hospital”, he said, “We want you to come back but please follow SOPs.”

“I also want to thank those people abroad who helped fellow countrymen, especially those who distributed tickets and those organizations of our overseas diaspora who helped other Pakistanis”, he further added.

Yusuf also added that “All decisions have been made with the consensus”, he further thanked Pakistanis and provincial government.

“These are repatriation flights and will start operating at 25 percent capacity from June 20. If you don’t need to come back, please don’t come back right now.”

“Thermal scanning will be done at airports and questions will be asked by healthcare experts,” Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on National Security Dr. Moeed Yusuf said while briefing the media on the protocol for those arriving in Pakistan.

“If they suspect them to have corona, they will be taken to hotels and kept there until results are received. Those who test negative will go home but quarantine for 14 days. Those who test positive will be kept by the government at quarantine centres. But those testing negative too will have to follow through with quarantine; the Tracking, Testing, and Quarantine (TTQ) team will check upon them”, he added.
