The Pakistan Army has been called to assist the civil administration in dealing with the urban flooding situation in Karachi, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement issued on Thursday.
According to ISPR, the “Army [was] called to assist civil administration for managing Urban Flooding Situation in Karachi.”
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Imran Khan has said in a message on the micro-blogging website, Twitter that he has directed the Chairman NDMA as well as the Pakistan Army to start cleaning work in the metropolis
“I have asked the NDMA Chairman to go to Karachi immediately and start the clean up in the aftermath of the rain” the PM had tweeted.
The PM further stated that the armed forces of Pakistan have also been asked to join hands in clean up the city.
Earlier, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail had a meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan in which the issues across the province were also discussed.
