Pakistan on Thursday reported 5,329 new coronavirus cases, the highest number of daily COVID-19 infections so far this year.
The last time Pakistan reported the highest was on June 16, 2020, when 5,090 cases.
According to the latest statistics of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), the total count of active cases was recorded at 66,994, while the positivity rate stood at 10.69 percent.
Pakistan also reported 98 coronavirus-related deaths in the last 24 hours. Out of which 62 were reported from Punjab only.

According to NCOC, the health facilities across the country conducted 49,816 coronavirus detection tests, taking the total number of COVID-19 tests to 10,584,877 since the first case was reported.
According to the statistics, 173 patients were declared critical, adding to the total number of patients suffering from sensitive health conditions up to 3,942.

Meanwhile, the country also reported 2,610 coronavirus recoveries during the last 24 hours.
Earlier in the day, NCOC has announced that the Vaccination centres across the country will now remain closed on Fridays instead of Sundays.
