Pakistan has advised the US and Iran to resolve their bilateral issues through dialogue, spokesperson Foreign Office said on Friday in the aftermath as top Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani was killed in a strike by the United States.
Saying that this could pose a threat to peace and stability in the Middle East.
The statement urged “respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity [which] are the fundamental principles of the UN Charter, which should be adhered to.
“It is also important to avoid unilateral actions and use of force.
The spokesperson FO also said, “All parties are urged to exercise maximum restraint, engage constructively to de-escalate the situation, and resolve issues through diplomatic means, in accordance with UN Charter and international law”.
Earlier on Friday’s Iran’s most powerful military commander, Gen Qasem Soleimani, was killed in a US airstrike at Baghdad airport, along with other Iran-backed militia figures, in a strike ordered by US President Donald Trump posed yet another tension between the two countries.
