Christian Community Celebrates Easter!!
The Pakistani Christian community celebrated Easter on Sunday with religious zeal and fervor.
The festival commemorates the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, according to the New Testament.
The followers of Christ believe Jesus was resurrected in Jerusalem 2,000 years ago.
Special services were hosted at different places across the country where the believers attended prayers for salvation, and for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
However, strict SOPs were ensured at all venues where prayers were held as the country battles a third wave of the coronavirus.
Unlike the traditional festivity, limited celebrations are taking this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Prime Minister Imran Khan extended Easter greetings to the Pakistani Christian community.
In a tweet, he said, “Wishing all our Christian citizens a happy Easter.”
Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood also extended his wishes for the Christian community.
“To all my Christian friends. Happy Easter. May this day bring great joy to you and your families,” he tweeted.
Asad Umar Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, in his Easter message in a tweet, said, “Wishing Christians around the world a happy Easter.”
Shireen Mazari, Federal Minister for Human Rights also extended her wishes.
“Happy & Safe Easter to all Christians in Pakistan and around the world. Loads of Love and best wishes,” said Senator Faisal Javed in his message.
Other than government officials, many others also took to social media to extend their wishes on the occasion.
