Pakistan International Airline’s management on Friday has fired 29 staff members as part of reforms and accountability process. The total number of dismissed employees of the national carrier has reached 206.
As per the reports of Human Resource department of PIA, an in-depth investigation was carried out against 54 employees of the national carrier, of which, 29 of them were found involved in illegal practices while 25 were subjected to penalties.
The data revealed by PIA reported seven fake degree holders were fired, eight for without notice absent from duties while the rest two were sacked for for damaging property of the airline.
The airline fired 6 staff members on charges of corruption, two for narcotics’ smuggling and one for revealing sensitive information of the national carrier. Furthermore, two employees were terminated for government record’s theft while five were sacked for not following the SOPs.
A spokesperson of PIA said that nine employees of the airline were downgraded while 10 were cleared after inquiry.
Moreover, 13 staff members were awarded with certifications over their performances, 7 were given cash prizes
