PM Shehbaz orders the arrest of all culprits, planners, and instigators in 72 hours!

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has given a 72-hour deadline to law-enforcement authorities on Saturday to identify and arrest all those involved in the riots following Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan’s arrest.

The prime minister said the cases filed against the culprits would be tried by anti-terrorism courts.

“All available resources including technological aid and intelligence are being deployed to chase down these elements. Bringing these people to justice is a test case for the government,” the prime minister said while chairing a meeting at the Punjab Safe City Authority Headquarters in Lahore.

In the latest development, Lahore Police has arrested another 340 miscreants involved in the incidents of vandalism and arson on May 9.

The new arrests were made after the 72-hour deadline given by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

According to the spokesperson for Punjab police, the number of arrested miscreants involved in vandalism and arson has reached 3,185.

The spokesperson added that 22 government buildings including police stations and offices were severely damaged.

Punjab suffered more than Rs6,000 million worth of losses due to violent protests on May 9, triggered by PTI chief Imran Khan’s arrest, interim chief minister Mohsin Naqvi said while addressing a presser in Lahore on Sunday.

“We will not sit idle until every culprit is arrested,” he said, adding “There is no doubt. All evidence is present that it was pre-planned and it was conveyed to them.”
