President Dr. Arif Alvi on Saturday approved the appointment of Anwarul Haq Kakar as the caretaker prime minister.
The president accorded approval to appoint Anwarul Haq Kakar as caretaker prime minister under Article 224 (1A), on the advice of outgoing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Anwarul Haq Kakar will take oath as the caretaker prime minister after the issuance of a notification by the Cabinet Division.
“President Dr. Arif Alvi has approved the appointment of Anwaarul Haque Kakar as caretaker prime minister. The president approved the appointment under Article 224-A of the Constitution,” a statement by the Aiwan-e-Sadr said.
Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) Senator Anwaarul Haq Kakar’s job is to keep the country running until a new government is elected.
He was elected to the Senate in 2018 and has been a very active politician.
Anwaarul Haq Kakar also served as the spokesperson of the provincial government prior to his election to the upper house.
Kakar holds a Master’s degree in Political Science, Sociology and is an alumnus of the University of Balochistan.
