The Punjab government has extended the ongoing lockdown in various areas of the province till August 31 in a bid to contain the spread of COVID-19.
The Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Secretary Sarah Aslam said that the ongoing lockdown has been extended in various areas of Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, and Faisalabad.
The district administration and police will jointly ensure the implementation of COVID-19 SOPs.
According to the notification issued by the province’s primary and secondary health department, there will be a complete ban on indoor weddings till the end of the month.
However, outdoor gatherings will be allowed for a maximum of 300 individuals with strict adherence to coronavirus SOPs, it added.
The new restrictions will come into force with immediate effect, according to the notification.
Punjab has reported 1,036 Covid-19 cases and seven deaths during the last 24 hours.
The province’s infection tally has risen to 364,680 and the death toll has climbed to 11,201.
