Punjab extended winter holidays for up to grade 1 for another week amid cold weather!
On Wednesday, the Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab Mohsin Naqvi announced the suspension of classes for grade one and below students for one week amid rising pneumonia cases in the province.
The decision was announced after Interim CM Naqvi held an emergency meeting at Lahore’s Children’s Hospital where the schools have also been directed to abolish the morning assembly practice as well till January 31.
Eight out of 10 children are suffering from pneumonia, CM Naqvi said, while urging children and the elderly to be vaccinated against pneumonia and use warm clothes amid extreme cold.
Earlier, the provincial education department had extended the winter break for schools across Punjab until January 9.
Taking it to social media on Monday, CM Naqvi said, “Due to the ongoing winter wave, schools will resume on 10th Jan 2024. From 10th to 22nd Jan, schools will start at 9:30 am. It is highly advisable to wear jackets and warm clothes.”
