Re-elected Recep Tayyip Erdogan takes oath of office to begin his third presidential term

Re-elected Recep Tayyip Erdogan took the oath of office on Saturday to begin his third presidential term.

The inauguration ceremony was held at the Presidential Complex in Ankara.

Erdogan has also become Turkey’s longest-serving leader, defied the predictions of most opinion polls, and secured 52.2% support in the May 28 runoff vote.

Erdogan, became prime minister in 2003 after his AK Party won an election in late 2002 following the worst economic crisis in Türkiye since the 1970s.

As reported, Turkish President Erdogan’s inauguration ceremony was attended by 50 heads of state, 13 prime ministers, parliamentary and ministerial-level officials, and representatives of international organizations.

Many world leaders, including Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus President Ersin Tatar, Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro, Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Gabon President Ali Bongo Ondimba, Equatorial Guinea Vice President Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, and the Republic of Congo President Denis Sassou-Nguesso attended the inauguration ceremony of Türkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, 69, at the inauguration ceremony said: -” I would like to extend my gratitude to our friends from our country and abroad – I would like to express my gratitude to Allah. I would like to thank my nation for giving us the opportunity to serve for five more years.”

He went on to add:

  • We are blessed with serving our nation for five more years
  • We’ll work relentlessly to make our “Century of Türkiye” come true
  • As president of Türkiye, we will continue glorifying our nation and elevating our people
  • We won’t forget attempts to interfere with national will through covers of magazines
  • We’ll embrace all 85 million of our citizens, regardless of their political views
  • Türkiye needs all 85 million citizens to stand together like bricks of a wall
