Chairman Imran Khan gets some relief in connection to the Quetta lawyer’s murder case.
The development comes on Monday as the Supreme Court (SC) restricted the police from arresting the former prime minister till August 9 in the case of senior lawyer Abdul Razzaq Shar’s murder in Quetta.
A three-member bench led by Justice Yahya Afridi and comprising Justice Sayyed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi and Justice Mussarat Hilali issued the directives as the apex court took up Imran Khan’s plea seeking to quash the case.
PTI chairman appeared before the court in a personal capacity.
The lawyer of the petitioner did not attend court. Advocate General Balochistan sought a court order for the PTI chairman to join the investigation process and report to the investigation officer.
The Supreme Court adjourned the hearing of the case till August 9 asking the PTI chief to attend the court on the next hearing date.
Abdul Razzaq Shar was fatally shot by unidentified assailants near Alamo Chowk on Airport Road in Quetta on June 6.
Separately, the Inspector General of Balochistan Police submitted the investigation report to the Supreme Court in lawyer Abdul Razzaq Shar’s murder case.
