Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Monday approached the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to launch a new political party.
Disgruntled Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi submitted relevant documents to the ECP office to register a new political party.
Abbasi, who served as the country’s prime minister from August 2017 to May 2018, parted ways with the Nawaz-led party after having differences over the last year.
While speaking to the journalists outside ECP’s office, Abbasi said he provided relevant documents to the election commission for his new political party which would be registered under the Election Act 2017.
Abbasi also announced that he would participate in the next elections under the banner of his new party.
