Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid has accepted defeat on both Rawalpindi seats NA-56 and NA-57.
As reported Sheikh Rashid Ahmed lost on both the National Assembly constituencies in Rawalpindi, to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed independent candidates.
His nephew Rashid Shafeeq in a statement on Friday said Sheikh Rashid accepted the defeat in NA-56 and NA-57, Rawalpindi.
“We are saddened by our defeat but are happy at the same time that the PML-N also lost the election on these seats,” he said.
He also congratulated the winners Seembia Tahir and Shehryar Riaz.
Sheikh Rashid, who is incarcerated in Adiala Jail, on Wednesday cast his vote via postal ballot.
