Sindh MPA Aslam Abro’s brother and nephew were gunned down in Karachi by unknown assailants on Wednesday.
As reported, assailants riding a motorcycle opened fire on their vehicle in Defense Phase VII near Ayesha Mosque.
The firing killed Aslam Abro’s brother Shahryar Abro and nephew Akram Abro and two other person persons identified as Abdullah Abro and Arshad Pahoo were seriously injured.
South Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Asad Raza said that there were five persons onboard the vehicle and they were coming from their house in Khayaban-e-Shamsheer when they were chased and targeted.
According to SSP Raza, the victims had left their residence located near Khayaban-e-Shamsheer for Jacobabad at around 11:15 am. He added that their vehicle, a silver Toyota Vigo, came under attack at around 11:35 am in Phase 7.
SSP Raza said that four passengers were critically injured in the attack and were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where 68-year-old Akram Abro and 40-year-old Shahryar Akram succumbed to their injuries.
The attack seems to be “not an incident of terrorism” but was a case of “animosity or something else” that was not yet known, Karachi Police Chief Javed Alam Odho told reporters.
He added that the matter was still under investigation and further details will emerge only later.
SP Investigation South Abraiz Ali Abbasi in a briefing to the press revealed that “large weapons and 9mm shells” have also been recovered. “a .222 rifle and a 9mm pistol were used in the attack”.
“The attackers were traveling on more than one motorcycle,” he said adding that more information will be available after the investigation.
