Software house “Creative Chaos” apologizes for alleged discrimination for wearing hijab

As being reported a Karachi-based software house, “Creative Chaos”, asked a young female employee to stop wearing Hijab at the office premises or resign from her position. The story surfaced on social media in a form of Facebook post, which caused a lot of stir on in many circles. This also prompted strong criticism from the social media users.

The details of the incident were share by a girl on social media who claim to the friend of that unknown female worker hired at the Creative Chaos. According to her, a girl was hired as the Associate Talent Acquisition Officer at Creative Chaos. She was asked to resign from her job because of her hijab. She was told that the only way she could keep her position was to take it off. She refused to do so and sent in her resignation, added the friend on her social media post.

The CEO of the company Jawwad Kadir, has formally apologized claiming that the agency has a zero tolerance policy against any kind of discrimination. The statement was shared on social media.

The statement reads, “Yesterday, a senior member of our staff asked a colleague to resign on unprofessional and unethical grounds. She was told that her obligations may come in the way of her performance. Not only is this action disgraceful but shows extremely poor moral judgment by her hiring manager. I take full responsibility for this failure and am deeply ashamed that a colleague was put through distress and trauma.”

The statement further adds that the company has suspended the manager responsible for all this and a transparent inquiry has been ordered in this regard. And that the said employee has been asked to withdraw her resignation and return to the office.
