Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah are almost out of the remaining Asia Cup matches

PCB calls up Zaman Khan & Shahnawaz Dahani as the replacements

Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah are almost out of the remaining Asia Cup matches!

A massive blow for Pakistan as its key bowlers Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah picked up niggles in the match against India.

Shahnawaz Dahani and Zaman Khan have been called in by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as replacement bowlers for the Asia Cup.

Both Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah are almost out of the remaining Asia Cup matches (against Sri Lanka and final – if they qualify).

Haris picked up an injury when he felt discomfort in his right flank while Naseem Shah experienced problems with his bowling shoulder.

Earlier on Monday, on the reserve day of match against India, Haris Rauf was ruled out as a precautionary measure while Naseem also did not bat as he picked up a minor injury on his fingers.

In a late-night statement, the Pakistan cricket board said that this is only a precautionary measure keeping in mind the fitness and well-being of the players ahead of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup next month.

Haris and Naseem will continue to remain under the observation of the team’s medical panel during the ongoing Asia Cup 2023, PCB said.

PCB stated that replacements from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) technical committee will only be requested if Naseem or Haris are ruled out for the next seven days.

Pakistan’s bowling coach, Morne Morkel, Sharing insight on HAris Rauf’s injury said, “Haris started feeling discomfort in his oblique muscle last night, and a scan showed some inflammation. Given the upcoming World Cup, this decision is precautionary, and we will rely on other bowlers to complete the remaining overs.”

Haris made a significant impact in the tournament, especially in the first India-Pakistan match where he managed to take three wickets.
