Islamabad let loose the Musa

Haris Rauf took all the fanfare. Lahore Qalandars and Geo TV are good at that. Islamabad Untied are better at unearthing or at least developing young talent. On a day, when Haris Rauf had a tough day, Islamabad introduced to the world another young prodigy. Pakistan’s need for speed is well known. The thirst is ominous. If we could assemble a bowler who can excite us with pace like fire, for all the money MBS ‘granted’ us earlier this week, we would gladly make that trade.

So, when Muhammad Musa ran into to ball yesterday, it seemed our prayers have been answered. Or least the power that is starting to listen. The right arm pace merchant didn’t blow away the opposition. Yet he produced enough good deliveries to impress one and all. He picked up three crucial wickets going for just 25 runs in his four overs. A full toss, a leg stump back of a length delivery and a shortish ball providing width weren’t the three best balls he bowled yesterday. But it was what he bowled in between these three that mattered.

Perhaps, unlike Haris Rauf, Musa has a more typical Pakistani fast bowler like action. There is a beautiful flow to it. He seems like a bowler who could extract reverse swing. There was zip off the wicket for Musa. In a tournament like PSL, if a young fast bowler competes well like Hasan Ali, he could go on to achieve great things.
