Jay Shah has been elected as the president of the Asian Cricket Council for the third consecutive time!
The Board for Cricket Control in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Amitbhai Shah as the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President until January 2025.
The decision was made at the Annual General Meeting of the ACC which was held in Bali, Indonesia, on Wednesday with the election of the presidency as the core agenda.
As reported, the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) President Shammi Silva proposed the name of Shah for a second tenure and the nomination was backed unanimously by all members.
Jay Shah took charge as ACC President in January 2021 from Bangladesh Cricket Board’s Nazamul Hasan, becoming the youngest administrator to be re-appointed as the ACC president and faced several challenges in his tenure as the ACC Chief.
He relocated the Men’s Asia Cup 2022 to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in light of the financial crisis faced by original hosts Sri Lanka.
“I am grateful to the ACC Board for their continued trust. We must remain committed to ensuring the all-round development of the sport, with a special focus on regions where it is still in its infancy. The ACC is committed to nurturing cricket across Asia,” Shah stated after his re-election.
