Morocco makes history by beating Portugal, securing a place in the semi-finals

Morocco beat the highly favoured Portugal team to become the first Arab and African country to ever reach the FIFA World Cup semi-final!

Morocco defeated Cristiano Ronaldo’s team through a brilliant performance to reach the semi-finals of the Football World Cup for the first time in history.

The Portuguese team entered the field without the famous player Cristiano Ronaldo in an important match like the quarter-final and the Moroccan team also took full advantage of this.

In the match played at Al-Thumama Stadium, there was an interesting contest and both teams failed to score in the first 42 minutes of the first half.

Morocco’s Youssef En-Nesyri scored the first goal in the 42nd minute, which lasted until the end of the first half.

As the second half started, Portugal brought Ronaldo onto the field and the game became faster.

Portugal managed to make several attacks to score goals, but Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou also known as Bono played a great game and failed several goals.

On the other hand, Morocco also performed well and created scoring opportunities.

Portugal made two more changes after 70 minutes of play, with Rafael Liao and Vetinha called on, while Ramos and Otiveo were forced off.

Earlier, Morocco called off Al-Nasser and Amalullah and sent Benouen and Chedira as their replacements.

In the last minute of the allotted time, Ronaldo tried to score with a strong shot but was stopped by the Moroccan goalkeeper, but he did not get full control of the ball on the first attempt but immediately took the ball in his grip.

The stadium was packed with Moroccan supporters who were constantly chanting in favour of their team.

Morocco suffered a major blow early in extra time when key man Walid Cheddira received his second yellow card of the match for a foul and was sent off by the referee.

Morocco faced Portugal with 10 players and won the match 0-1 to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup for the first time.

What a match!
